There are many opinions on what sport is the best and most arguments each have good reasoning to support their claim. I believe that baseball is the best sport. In this text, I will be going over my argument for which I believe baseball is the best sport.
First I will be going over the history of baseball. “Baseball has been around since the American Civil War.”, Claims rookieroad.com. This quote is important because baseball is one of the first sports created in the United States of America. Baseball is believed to be created as a pastime for troops during the civil war. Baseball was created by Abner Doubleday, a union general who created something to brighten the mood of his soldiers. Major League Baseball was created in 1903 with only two teams with the Boston Americans winning the first world series. Baseballs were eventually adapted to be the size and weight of a grenade at the time of World War II. Small adaptations to the rules of baseball were created and eventually, it became the sport we all enjoy today.
Second I will be going over how baseball is unique compared to other sports. “Baseball is the only sport that forces the team that is winning to continue to play out the game.”, States bleacerreport.com. This quote shows that in baseball there is always a chance for a comeback and the game is never truly over until after the nine-plus innings. The game will always stay intense and although you could say that other sports include more action, that is not always true. Since I have shown you that you have never fully won, you can’t delay the end of the game just because you are winning like you can in basketball, soccer, football, etc. Baseball is the most exciting and intense sport in the world.
Finally, I will be going over some fun facts that make baseball exciting. There are many fun facts that are included by reference.yourdictionary.com. Baseball is a sport where two major league players played in the league for 27years. Baseball is a sport where you can play from your young till your old age with talent and that is truly unique. Another fun fact is that three baseball players have hit over 700 home runs. This is incredible because hitting a home run is the hardest thing to do in any sport and to watch a player do it 700 times on their own is phenomenal. There are many other facts that are unique but baseball is set apart from the rest in how hard it is to play and how incredible the achievements are.
There are many reasons for every argument for each sport to be the best but I believe it is truly baseball. I hope I have shown you why I believe that and I have given you a good reason to believe the same. Baseball is unique, difficult, exciting, and a great American pastime for many years. I think baseball will continue to be America’s sport for time and time to come.
Will bats was an 18-year-old boy in Louisville Kentucky. He grew up in a household full of baseball and was known around his town to be one of the best shortstops in the nation. He had only gotten out 3 times the whole season and there were only a few games left. He was in his senior year of high school and he would find out in just a few days if he was going to college, or straight to the MLB. It was game day for Will and it was going to be the last time he plays before he could possibly get drafted to the MLB. Many thoughts were going through Will’s head and this was the most stress he had ever felt through baseball. Baseball was usually a place where will could escape from the stresses of life and just have fun and do what he was good at but lately, the thought of his future being on the line had been on his mind.
Time had passed and now, it was late in the championship game and Will knew it was his time to show his talent. Will set up a good tournament so far, keeping his streak of not getting out, but with the game tied in the bottom of the last inning, and him about to bat he knew this was his time to shine. Right, when they announced his name thoughts flooded his mind, “I need to at least get a double here to show how I can come through in important needs”, he thought. He stepped up to bat, “What if I get out? My team needs me.”, he then thought. He started shaking, he put his hand up toward the umpire “TIME ON THE BATTER”, the umpire yelled. Will took a few seconds and readjusted his batting gloves and shin guard, he then stepped back in the batter’s box and tried to clear his mind. The first pitch flew by for a strike. Will stepped out and he knew another high fastball was coming. Will was ready but all of a sudden the pitcher through an amazing curveball and Will swung and missed. Will swung so hard that the miss left him on the ground feeling embarrassed. Will stepped out of the batter’s box and realized he had to have an open mind to what was coming next because this pitcher was unpredictable. He stepped back in, the pitcher was in his windup, time slowed down for will. The pitch was then soaring in the air and Will knew he had to swing. Right when the pitch was about to get past him “CRAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK”, went his bat. Will had no clue where the ball went but he started running as hard as he could to first base. Everyone started cheering, Will had hit a Walk-off Homerun!!! His whole team waited at home plate to celebrate and Will went home a hero.
Later that day, the Major League Baseball team, The Philadelphia Phillies posted on their Twitter page.” WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE MLB, SHORTSTOP WILL BATS!!!!!!!!!”. Will went ecstatic, he was so happy that his hard work paid off and he knew that this wasn’t over, he had to keep his passion and continue his grind but he had accomplished the first step of his forever dream. Will had made it.
I have played baseball ever since I was three. Baseball is a sport typically of nine portions, where you play to either hit and eventually score, or prevent three players from the other team from getting on base every portion. Baseball is a beautiful sport, it takes the most mental preparedness, and mental strength to take you through your highs and lows. Baseball is the most exciting and complex sport in the world. Baseball is what many people enjoy doing in their free time and it is many people’s life and dedication. Baseball can help someone achieve a scholarship and be a major role in the path they take to how they make a living once they are older. Overall, I, along with many other people, love baseball which is why I chose this topic for my blog.
